About fifteen minutes east of Los Angeles, California, the San Gabriel Valley is tucked between the San Gabriel Mountains to the north, San Raphael Hills on the west, the south side’s Puente Hills, and the east’s Chino Hills and San Jose Hills.

The affluent valley, referred to by locals as SGV, encompasses 31 cities, of which Pasadena is the largest, and five unincorporated areas in Los Angeles County, spanning about 400 square miles.

One of Southern California’s most prominent and diverse valleys, the area is nearly entirely urbanized and is an essential part of the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

But the San Gabriel Valley’s main claim to fame is that it hosts and broadcasts live the yearly Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, after which is the Rose Bowl, a game of college football.
